… two missiles shoot down a space-age jet parked on a gargantuan platform floating in the sky. The speed with which the plane disintegrated was distressing. Later, H.F.T. argued about the time of the event based upon what she saw reported on TV. She also disputed the time I'd left the house, saying, "thirteen minutes to eight," which wouldn't have given me time to witness the event at the TV-reported time. 🙄 The supermarket has no milk except for a few gallons of chocolate and the employees have loaded all the donuts into a big trashcan, leaving the shelves at the bakery counter bare.
